The Pakistani military regime’s overnight airstrikes on civilian areas in Afghanistan’s Paktia and Paktika provinces have sparked widespread public outrage across the country. Ordinary Afghans, residents of various provinces, tribal elders, religious scholars, social media users, and many young people have strongly condemned the attacks, saying that the killing of innocent people, the targeting of women and children, and the bombing of residential areas cannot be justified under any circumstances.
According to the public, what took place in the Mandakhel area of Chamkani district in Paktia and in parts of Giyan district in Paktika was not merely a military operation but an obvious act of violence against civilians and a clear violation of international humanitarian law. They stated that the houses targeted in these attacks were ordinary family homes, and the presence of women, children, and elderly people clearly shows that the victims were all civilians.
Afghans say that the incident in which the house of Bismillah Jan was bombed, followed by a second strike targeting people who had rushed to rescue the victims, was an act that violated all humanitarian and Islamic values. According to the public, attacking rescue teams and people providing assistance is regarded as one of the most serious war crimes under international laws of armed conflict, and those responsible should be held accountable under international legal principles.
People across different parts of the country have expressed sympathy with the families of the victims and said that the blood of innocent people can never be justified for political or military objectives. They added that the killing of children, women, and other civilians not only deeply hurts the feelings of the Afghan people but also destroys the atmosphere of trust between the two countries.
Many social media users have also strongly condemned the attacks. They wrote that bombing civilian areas and killing helpless people is not a solution to any problem and that such actions only fuel hatred, mistrust, and further conflict. According to them, if there are any security concerns, they should be resolved through dialogue, coordination, and diplomatic means rather than by putting the lives of ordinary people at risk.
Religious scholars also stated that Islam does not permit the killing of women, children, the elderly, or other vulnerable civilians. According to them, protecting civilians during times of war is an Islamic principle, and any act that causes the deaths of innocent people is contrary to Islamic values.
Tribal elders emphasized that the only way to resolve issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan is through mutual respect, dialogue, and adherence to the principles of good neighborly relations. They said that every time civilian areas are attacked, it is ordinary people who become the victims—people who have no connection to war or political disputes.
Ordinary Afghans are calling on Pakistan to completely stop all airstrikes on Afghan territory, the bombing of residential homes, and the killing of innocent civilians. They stressed that the lives of civilians must be protected from any military or political calculations and that differences between the two countries should be resolved through dialogue and mutual respect instead of the use of force.
According to the public, achieving peace, stability, and good neighborly relations requires respect for civilian lives, adherence to international humanitarian principles, and ensuring that women, children, and other innocent people never become victims of war. Afghans say that such airstrikes by Pakistan are not only a painful act against the people of Afghanistan but also have negative consequences for regional security, stability, and future relations. Therefore, they call for an immediate end to such attacks so that no more innocent families become victims of war and a suitable environment for lasting peace and stability in the region can be established.
