Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, has held high-level talks with officials from the Azizi Group to explore investment prospects in the country’s energy sector and related infrastructure development.
According to a ministry statement, the dialogue focused on utilizing Afghanistan’s coal and natural gas reserves for electricity generation. The discussions covered available investment capacities and actionable strategies to expand the national energy grid.
Representatives from the Azizi Group expressed appreciation for the ministry’s support, outlining their current operations, future programs, and financial commitments. They reaffirmed their readiness to participate in pivotal infrastructure and energy projects.
Welcoming the proposals, Minister Badri highlighted that Afghanistan possesses substantial natural gas and coal deposits. He asserted that the efficient and standardized exploitation of these resources for power production is crucial for meeting domestic demand, reducing reliance on imported electricity, and catalyzing economic growth.
The minister further stressed the necessity of attracting both domestic and foreign investment to the energy sector, describing it as a linchpin for sustainable development, job creation, and the reinforcement of the nation’s economic infrastructure.
