Officials of Herat Municipality say that construction work has begun on a canal extending from Bakrabad’s six-way intersection to Mawlana Adina Mosque in the city’s third district.
Engineer Mohammad Ayub Saif-ul-Jihad, Head of Technical and Professional Affairs at Herat Municipality, told Bakhtar News Agency that the project is being implemented from the municipality’s development budget at a cost of approximately 3.5 million Afghanis.
According to him, the canal is 800 meters long, and the project has also created job opportunities for several local residents.
He added that upon completion of the project, conditions will be created for the regulation and management of surface water, road damage will be prevented, and citizens will benefit from improved urban services.
Herat Municipality officials stated that the implementation of the project will also provide employment opportunities for a number of people.
It is worth noting that the project is scheduled to be completed within three months.
