A representative of Russia’s railway authority has announced plans to visit Afghanistan in the near future to discuss the development of railway infrastructure.
According to a statement issued by the Afghan Embassy in Ashgabat, Fazl Mohammad Saber, Acting Ambassador of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan, met with Ivan Tonkikh, a representative of Russia’s railway authority, and discussed investment opportunities, industry, agriculture, trade, and other sectors in Afghanistan.
Ivan Tonkikh expressed satisfaction with progress in the development of the North–South Corridor, reductions in customs tariffs, and the facilitation of procedures at the Aqina and Torghundi ports. He also pledged cooperation in related areas.
He added that he would travel to Afghanistan soon to meet with officials of relevant institutions and discuss railway development projects.
The two sides also emphasized the expansion of bilateral relations and the continuation of cooperation in relevant fields.
