President Mohammad Ashrf Ghani inaugurated the first phase of Jabal Saraj – Nejrab road and industrial and agricultural park during his visit to northern Parwan province.
The office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said the first phase of Jabal Saraj – Nejrab road was inaugurated yesterday morning after President Ghani’s arrival to the province.
The statement further added that the 22.48km first phase of Jabal Saraj – Nejrab road has been asphalted with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank.
President Ghani also inaugurated the industrial and agricultural park in Barikab, the ARG Palace added in its statement.
The Barikab agricultural and industrial park has been established covering an area of 1025 acres of land and 340 plots have been distributed in the park so far.
President Ghani arrived in Parwan province earlier yesterday morning accompanying a delegation of high level government officials.
The President also met the public representatives who shared their problems and suggestions regarding several projects, including creation of jobs for the youth, construction of a main mosque in the city, construction of two roads, extension of electricity to districts, higher education facilities, education scholarships and others.
Speaking on the occasion, President Ghani thanked the people of Parwan province for their cooperation with the Afghan security and defense forces. Ghani said Afghanistan’s trade with central Asian countries had increased and it had signified the importance of Parwan.
Insisting on standard packaging of agricultural products for exports and their increased production in Parwan, the president said now Afghanistan was connected with India, central Asia and Europe through the air and ground, thus necessitating improved packaging and processing.
Later, President Ghani met security and defense officials and heard reports from them about the security situation and preparations for the Oct 20 Wolesi Jirga elections.
The provincial security officials briefed the president about their achievements, challenges and said the security forces were in high morale and they had always frustrated enemy’s designs.
