The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says it has distributed educational kits to 239,100 children in the provinces of Badghis and Herat.
In a statement on Sunday, May 10, UNICEF added that eight schools in these provinces have also been rehabilitated.
UNICEF also reported that 1,300 school staff members have received training.
According to UNICEF, an earthquake had disrupted the education process in these provinces.
The assistance was provided in cooperation with the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund at the United Nations and other UNICEF partners.
UNICEF previously stated that it had rebuilt more than 200 schools in Afghanistan last year.
In a separate report highlighting the low quality of education in the country, UNICEF said that around 90 percent of primary school children in Afghanistan are unable to read and write.
