Officials from the Directorate of Mines and Petroleum in Kunar Province have once again reported the sale of precious and semi-precious stones through public bidding in the province.
Mawlawi Shireen Agha, Director of Mines and Petroleum for Kunar, stated that 1,230 kilograms of precious stones extracted from the province’s mines were sold through a transparent auction process for a total value of AFN 161.1 million.
According to him, ten percent of the revenue generated from the auction will be deposited into the state treasury.
It is worth mentioning that similar sales of precious and semi-precious stones have previously been conducted through public bidding in the province.
