The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs has announced a five-year tax exemption for investors building cold storage facilities in Afghanistan.

According to the Office, during a meeting of the Economic Commission chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund, the proposal to construct a cold storage and processing facility on land belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Ghazni city was approved.

Afghanistan is an agricultural country, but due to the lack of cold storage facilities, as well as seasonal tariff increases and trade route closures imposed by neighboring countries on Afghan agricultural products, the national economy, agricultural produce, and farmers have suffered financial losses.

To address these issues, any company or individual entrepreneur who invests in building cold storage facilities will be granted a five-year tax exemption.
