The first shipment of black stone extracted from a mine in Zindajan District of Herat Province, valued at $100,000, has been exported to the United States.
Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Herat governor, told Bakhtar News Agency that the shipment consists of high-quality black mineral stones that were extracted, processed, and packaged in accordance with export standards before being exported to the U.S. market by Sadaf Sard Company.
He added that the export of this shipment not only demonstrates Afghanistan’s mining potential but could also pave the way for the export of other mineral products to major international markets and strengthen Afghanistan’s position as a producer of high-quality stones in the region and globally.
Meanwhile, economic experts described the export of the shipment as a sign of growing confidence in Afghan mineral products in international markets. They said access to the U.S. market could create new opportunities for investment, job creation, and increased export revenues for the country.
Herat Province is considered one of Afghanistan’s resource-rich areas in terms of decorative and construction stones. The province’s black stone, due to its quality, durability, and natural beauty, has the potential to compete in international markets.
