Local officials in Nuristan Province have announced the start of construction of a bridge in Barg-e-Matal District at a cost of nearly 31 million AFN.
Mawlawi Faisal Mukhtar, Deputy Governor of Nuristan, told Bakhtar News Agency that the bridge will be 30 meters long, 8 meters wide, 6 meters high from the river level.
According to him, the construction of the bridge will provide safe and easier transportation for residents of 35 villages in Barg-e-Matal District.
He added that, as part of the project, a 340-meter-long road will also be constructed alongside the bridge. A 150-meter section of the road will pass along the mountain slope at a height of 20 meters and will be 6.5 meters wide.
He said the project is being funded by the Islamic Emirate’s budget as part of development projects for border districts, adding that efforts will continue to implement infrastructure projects in border areas.
Meanwhile, participants described the launch of the project as an important development step for local residents and expressed hope that its completion would significantly facilitate transportation, trade, and social relations for residents of Barg-e-Matal District.
