China Urges Removal of Sanctions and Release of Afghan Assets

‎Fu Cong, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, today at a UN meeting called for the removal of sanctions and the release of billions of dollars in frozen Afghan assets.

‎He urged the relevant countries to release the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan as soon as possible and to remove the banking and financial restrictions imposed on the country.

‎The Chinese representative emphasized that the return of Afghanistan’s frozen assets and the removal of unilateral sanctions could create a better environment for economic reconstruction, development, and the improvement of the livelihoods of the Afghan people.

‎He added that the international community should take practical measures to create more favorable conditions for Afghanistan’s economic stability and development.
