In an exclusive interview with the TASS news agency, Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Russia Mawlavi Gul Hassan Hassan announced that Afghanistan will actively participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), where it holds observer status.
Ambassador Hassan highlighted plans to increase the number of direct flights between Russia and Afghanistan.
He mentioned that Ariana Afghan Airlines has been operating a weekly direct flight to Moscow for the past four years, and soon, direct flights between Kabul and Moscow will also commence through Kam Air.
Furthermore, he noted that Russian companies have initiated discussions about building micro hydroelectric dams in Afghanistan, underscoring the growing cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
