The Afghanistan-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce has convened a pivotal meeting with its members and a visiting delegation from the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce.
The primary objective of the talks was to explore avenues for expanding commercial cooperation, empowering the private sector, and resolving persistent obstacles facing merchants on both sides of the border.
According to the chamber, Haji Elham Mazhar, a board member of the Afghanistan-Iran Joint Chamber, received Iran’s commercial attaché, Hossein Roustaei, along with his accompanying delegation.
During the discussions, Mazhar characterized the economic rapport between the two neighbors as steadily strengthening. He underscored the urgency of deepening these bilateral ties through increased trade volume, robust investment, and closer collaboration between their respective private enterprises.
In response, Roustaei hailed the establishment of the Afghanistan-Iran Joint Chamber as a critical milestone for cementing economic ties. He also pledged to extend new facilities for Afghan traders and investors, notably announcing that, henceforth, traders officially introduced by the joint chamber would qualify for streamlined visa procedures.
The session also provided a platform for several traders and industrialists to voice the practical challenges hampering their business activities and cross-border investments. They urged officials from both chambers to take decisive action to resolve these issues.
Concluding the meeting, Parviz Haidari, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Afghanistan-Iran Joint Chamber, called on the business community to formally submit their concerns, suggestions, and policy proposals to the chamber in writing.
