I will sacrifice my life but won’t let ANDSF dissolution: Pres. Ghani

President Ashraf Ghani has said he is ready to pay the ultimate sacrifice but would not let the Afghan forces to be dissolved and those thinking so should rethink.

A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News says that the president expressed these views during a meeting with the Afghan Army’s 205thAttal Military Corps soldiers and officers in southern Kandahar province.

Sher Mohammad, Mohammad Ghaus and Maj. Ahmad Shah shared their demands and suggestions with the president on behalf of soldiers, lieutenants and officers of the corps.

They said they were ready for any kind of sacrifice for defending their country and would not hesitate from sacrificing their lives in safeguarding the motherland.

The president appreciated the 205thAttal Military Corps for their assistance to flood affected families.

Ghani directed the Ministry of Defense to give rewards to those who helped and rescued marooned people.

“Those who say there is no motivation among the Afghan security forces, they should look at our forces, your patriotism really is appreciable,” he said.

The president said he, as a commander in chief, was ready to give his life but not the Afghan security forces. “Those who think our security forces will be dissolved and our planes sold to others, seriously need to rethink,” Ghani said.

The president ordered security and defense organs to resolve problems in equipment supply to soldiers, their privileges and rights. He assured security officers their problems would be addressed in a timely manner.

He stressed security forces casualties should reduce during combat operations saying the money saved in different processes would be distributed to the families of martyred soldiers.

“You have proved you are getting stronger with each passing day – a reason we are going to peace, your role would further increase once peace comes,” he said.

“Whenever peace talks accelerate, war also intensifies but peace would come, and it needs tolerance and recourse”, he said.

205thAttal Military Corps commander, Maj. Gen. Imam Nazar Behbud, said the security situation in Kandahar was improving and as well as coordination between security and defense organs.

He said security forces were ready for any type of measures and sacrifices to defend their country.
