Fu Cong, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, today at a UN meeting called for the removal of sanctions and the release of billions of dollars in frozen Afghan assets.
He urged the relevant countries to release the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan as soon as possible and to remove the banking and financial restrictions imposed on the country.
The Chinese representative emphasized that the return of Afghanistan’s frozen assets and the removal of unilateral sanctions could create a better environment for economic reconstruction, development, and the improvement of the livelihoods of the Afghan people.
He added that the international community should take practical measures to create more favorable conditions for Afghanistan’s economic stability and development.
