Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of Afghan parliament, summoned the acting interior minister on Friday night over police clash with some parliamentarians in Pol-e-Charkhi, the eastern suburbs of Kabul city.
Police said some members of parliament clashed with police over the problems in their cars and weapons licenses. It is said that first the guards of the parliamentarians traded barbs with police than a physical clash erupted between them.
After the incident, Wolesi Jirga summoned the acting interior minister to the house for clarification. Details of the meeting have not been made public, but a short video shows Massoud Andarabi standing infront of MPs.
Meanwhile, in a voice recording ostensibly exchanged between MPs, an unidentified parliamentarian calls on his fellow MPs to mobilize against the Senior Security Deputy of interior ministry, General Khoshal Saadat.
“Use whatever pressure you have at your disposal to hold accountable the security deputy and others involved in the incident,” the MPs said.
Another MP says in the recording that the house should summon General Khoshal to session on Monday.
“He is responsible for all the disrespect and division in the house,” said the MP.
Nasratullah Rahimi, a spokesman to the ministry interior, says the incident is under investigation.
