Some Wolesi Jirga members on Saturday called the lower house’s administrative board “incapable” as the house failed to convene the general session yesterday due to the lack a specific agenda for discussions.
Lawmaker Ramazan Bashardost told reporters that yesterday’s session was not held because there was no agenda for the meeting.
He termed the failure to hold the session ‘a violation of public mandate’ and said: “It was announced that due to non-availability of agenda, the lawmakers shall hold meetings of commissions, but all the offices were occupied by senators.”
“The reason behind cancelation of today’s meeting was the presence of irresponsible and non-committed lawmakers in the house”, he said.
Abrullah Murad, a lawmaker from Nangarhar province, also criticized the administrative panel of the lower house for inability to furnish an agenda.
But Deputy Speaker Amir Khan Yar criticized the commissions for what he called ‘non-cooperative attitude’ and said agenda items were supposed to be announced by commissions and lawmakers and the administrative panel prepared it.

He said members of commissions and lawmakers did not provide a specific item to them for preparation of agenda.
