The Lower House of the Afghan Parliament, Wolesi Jirga, on Monday approved the draft budget for the fiscal year 1398.
The draft budget was presented during the general session of the parliament which was approved unanimously.
The budget for the fiscal year 1398 includes 399 billion Afghanis which comprises of both operational and development budgets.
The acting minister of finance Humayoun Qayoumi had earlier told the Afghan senators that 399 billion Afghanis have been allocated for the 1398 fiscal year which include 275 billion Afghanis for the operational budget and 124 billion for the development budget.
Homayoun further added that the government has mainly focused on development budget during the 1398 fiscal year.
He also added that the majority of the development budget would be spent on infrastructure, agriculture and rural development, health, governance, and education.
