Afghanistan have the capacity to win the Asia Cup if players improve their batting and fielding, the national tam’s skipper claims.
“(We are) considering the Asia Cup or the T20 World Cup is going to be held. For this very reason, we have put on this training camp to be better prepared,” Asghar Afghan said.
In an interview, he lauded the Afghan spinners as world class, and said they would focus on playing better cricket in the Asia Cup.
“That is why we need to work more on our fielding and batting for the Asia Cup and we can hope to reach final or even win the cup,” he remarked.
The squad had focused more on T20 players in preparations for the Asia Cup, T20 World Cup and bilateral series against Zimbabwe, the captain said.
“I hope that we will be fully prepared in the camp for the upcoming competitions,” Afghan told a website called Cricbuzz.
Afghan commended the coaching staff for working tirelessly to ensure that players were fully ready when they were required to deliver.
Because of the coronavirus outbreak, only 5 players are allowed to train at a time at the ongoing camp in Kabul. Head coach Lance Klusener is yet to join the team.
