According to local sources in Takhar province, the congregational mosque in Yangi Qala district has been completely destroyed by fire.

A power failure, according to the Taliban officials, caused the fire, which started around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, 5th June.

Witnesses to the incident told the media that while people arrived to the scene of the fire, they were unable to extinguish the fire owing to a shortage of resources, particularly firefighters, and fire extinguishing tools.

Taliban officials in Takhar province, on the other hand, confirmed the incident, adding that no one was killed in the fire, but Yangi Qala Mosque was completely destroyed.

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of fire reports. A forest fire broke out in Nooristan province around two weeks ago, destroying dozens of acres of forest.

The forests of Chapa Dara district in Kunar province have also caught fire as a result of the increased fires in Nooristan’s forests, according to local Taliban officials.
