Roadside bomb left at least 11 civilians, including children and women, dead in southern Kandahar province, local officials said on Monday.
Thirty-five more were wounded in the explosion which happened in Darzab area of Khakrez district, said Ahmad Sadiq Esa, deputy spokesman for army’s 205th Atal Corps.
The victims were attending a wedding. Women and children were among casualties.
Kandahar Police Chief, Tadin Khan Achakzai, confirmed the incident, saying Taliban chose violence.
“Taliban chose more violence and caused more civilian deaths & injuries today. A civilian truck was hit by a roadside IED today in Darzab on road between Khakrez & Kandahar,” Khan wrote on his twitter handle.
