Acting Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani met with Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov in Bishkek on Friday, April 19, and discussed issues around regional security, Afghan peace and economic cooperation between the two countries.
In this meeting, the Kyrgyz President mentioned Afghanistan as a good friend of Kyrgyzstan and vowed his country’s long-term support for peace efforts in Afghanistan and building the capacity of workforce in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday, April 19.
Rabbani’s visit, his first to Kyrgyzstan, will strengthen Kyrgyz-Afghan co-operation, Jeenbekov said at the meeting, according to a statement by the Kyrghyz President’s Office.
“We are grateful that Kyrgyzstan supports the position of Afghanistan within international organizations. You can be sure that Afghanistan will always support the positions of the Kyrgyz Republic,” Rabbani said.
The two sides also talked about support for ethnic Kyrgyz in Afghanistan, statement said.
