The ambassador of Iran to Afghanistan, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, said the importance of relations between Iran and Afghanistan has doubled with the current government of Iran compared to the past.

Speaking at the ceremony commemorating the 44th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution’s victory in Kabul, Qomi further said that Iran is prepared to work with other countries in the fight against Daesh in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan has a significant and prominent role in Tehran’s foreign policy, according to the Iranian representative.

“Afghanistan has a significant and prominent role in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a bordering, Muslim, friend, and brother nation. In the administration of Ebrahim Raisi, who has made neighborhood politics his profession, its significance has doubled,” Qomi said.

In this ceremony, Qomi called Iran’s relations with Afghanistan beyond political borders.

“Iran is ready to cooperate with the current government of Afghanistan in order to fight against this terrorist group, to establish stability and security and peace,” said Hassan Kazemi Qomi.

Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, deputy foreign minister, who attended the ceremony, asked the neighboring nations to assist the Islamic Emirate in rooting out terrorist groups in Afghanistan.

“Our security forces sacrifice every day in this regard, and in order to catch the terrorist groups that are active in some form, the cooperation of friendly countries is inevitable, and they should also cooperate in this area,” Stanikzai said.

The deputy foreign minister once more called on the political opponents of the Islamic Emirate who reside in neighboring countries to return home and contribute to the development of their country.

“We invite the opponents who are politically opposed to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, whether they are in neighboring countries or in other countries, to return to their country and join with us to build their country,” he said.
