Qanoni bodyguards allegedly open fire on police in Kabul

The bodyguards of former Vice President Mohammad Younis Qanouni on Monday opened fire on the quick response force police personnel in the limits of 11th Police District in capital Kabul who intended to clear the tainted glasses of their vehicles, an eyewitness said.

An eyewitness, who wishes to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident happened near the Aryana Petrol Station in the Khirkhana locality at around 11:00 am.

There was no information about casualties in the incident but according to the eyewitness the firing continued for few minutes.

Police spokesman Basir Mujahid confirmed the incident and said it was yet to be ascertained that to whom individuals who opened fire on police belonged.

He did not provide more information, but added for more information you may contact the Ministry of Interior.
