Police launched an operation against nine members of Daesh in Bagrami district in the east of Kabul on Tuesday night. Clashes are still ongoing, officials said on Wednesday.

The operation was launched at 12pm on Tuesday night after Kabul police identified that a group of Daesh has hidden in a house, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Nusrat Rahimi, said.

Bagrami residents said that explosions have been heard in the area.

Two other operations were launched in Qasaba area in PD15 of Kabul against a group of militants and would-be suicide bombers, Rahimi said.

In the meantime, National Directorate of Security (NDS) in a statement said that special forces have launched operations in different parts of Kabul against “terrorist groups”.

“The operation finished in one part of Kabul but is still ongoing in two other areas,” the statement said, adding that “one of largest enemy’s hideouts was destroyed.”

The security organization did not provide further details.
