Over 40 convicted on drug smuggling charges

Primary and appellant courts have sentenced 42 individuals to jail on drug smuggling charges.

The Counter-Narcotic Justice Centre (CNGC), said the accused were handed down different jail terms last week in 34 drug smuggling cases.

A statement from CNGC said detective organs had detained the suspects with 30 kilograms of heroin, 28 kg of morphine, more than 156 kg of opium, over 8,030 kg of hashish, 76 kg of Amphthalmine, 8,240 liters of liquid chemicals and 96 kg of solid chemicals.

The statement said one of the detainees had skillfully hidden heroin in bags and wanted to smuggle it to India. But he was arrested at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
