OCHA report states 48% of Afghans living below poverty line

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) said recent floods in Afghanistan have affected at least 83,000 people.

In its latest report on Sunday, OCHA stated that recent rains has left destruction in several provinces of Afghanistan, especially in the west of the country.

The organization stated that currently 12.4 million people in Afghanistan are facing food insecurity.

In addition, 23.7 million people in Afghanistan need help and 48% of the Afghan population lives below the poverty line.

OCHA added that in such circumstances, the expulsion of Afghan immigrants from Iran and Pakistan has increased the food crisis in Afghanistan.

Natural disasters in recent months have left casualties and huge financial losses in the country.
