Moneychangers on Saturday protested in front of the country’s main money market in Kabul against growing security threats, including kidnappings and murder. They demanded public execution of criminals.
The Moneychangers Union claimed a dozen of its members and their family members had been kidnapped and six of them killed.
The recent incident of this nature involved the murder of Mahsa, a six-year-old girl who was kidnapped in the 11th police district. She was found dead after two days of her disappearance.
Police arrested two alleged killers of Mahsa. Qazi Mir Afghan Safi, head of the Moneychangers Union, at a gathering in front of Sara-i-Shahzada, said they were on a country-wide strike.
He said they were protesting the kidnapping and killing of moneychangers and their relatives. He demanded the public execution of individual involved in crimes against them.
Safi said those involved in murder, kidnappings and stealing should not be forgiven.
Moneychangers in Nangarhar also observed a strike. Roohullah Rahimi, a member of the union, said their lives are in danger. He also demanded severe punishment for the murderers of Mahsa.
