National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib, during his official visit to the US, inaugurated a six-month training program for Afghan pilots, his spokesman said on Sunday.
Qader Shah, spokesman for the National Security Council (NSC), told Pajhwok Afghan News 31 pilots would be trained on flying AC fighter aircraft, technical aspects, fighting and other functions.
Mohib thanked the US for the opportunity and shared his thoughts with the Afghan pilots. AC fighter jets, equipped with modern fighting capabilities, have been chosen after considerations of the war in Afghanistan.
He told the pilots they would help protect the common people against terrorists after completing the training and joining the battle. He asked them to share their problems through the Afghan embassy in the US with the NSC.
Qader Shah said the first batch of AC-2008 aircraft was expected to be handed over to Afghanistan this year.
