Three individuals have been arrested by security forces in the Chakhansur district of Nimroz province for allegedly excavating and damaging a protected historical site.
According to Al-Haj Mawlawi Nuruddin “Hamza,” the district governor of Chakhansur, the suspects were apprehended while digging in an area recognized as historically significant. The operation was carried out by local security forces, who intervened before further destruction could occur.
Meanwhile, Al-Haj Mufti Habibullah “Elham,” head of the Department of Information and Culture for Nimroz, condemned the act and emphasized that preserving Afghanistan’s cultural heritage is a national responsibility. “According to the esteemed decree of the Amir-ul-Mu’mineen [Commander of the Faithful], protecting historical and cultural landmarks is a collective duty. No one is allowed to tamper with or conduct unauthorized excavations in such areas,” Elham stated.
He called on residents of Nimroz to actively participate in safeguarding the nation’s historical and cultural values, underscoring that this responsibility lies with every Afghan citizen. He also warned that authorities would take strict action against anyone found violating these principles.
