The Keran Wa Manjan district in the northern province of Badakhshan has fallen to the Taliban after reinforcements were not sent to local forces, the district police chief Abdul Wali Hussaini along with his 40 soldiers fled to Nuristan Province, sources said Wednesday.
According to the source dozen of public uprising forces have surrendered to the Taliban.
Nuristan police said that it is expected that the police chief for Keran Wa Manjan Abdul Wali Hussaini along with his 40 soldiers will arrive in Parun on Wednesday.
The district police chief for Keran Wa Manjan Abdul Wali Hussaini after two days of contact with TOLOnews criticized government forces for not sending reinforcements to the district.
Keran Wa Manjan shares borders with Nuristan, Panjshir and Takhar provinces.
