Iran exports 67,000 tons of produce to Afghanistan through Dogharoun border

Local officials in Taybad city of Razavi Khorasan province of Iran have announced that 67,000 tons of agricultural products have been exported to Afghanistan through Dogharoun border over the past 10 months.

Mahdi Shirdel, the governor of Taybad city, said in an interview with IRNA news agency on Saturday that this amount of agricultural products includes 35,000 tons of potatoes, 10,700 tons of apples, 3,500 tons of oranges and 17,800 tons of other produce.

During the period, 30,500 tons of agricultural products have been transited to Afghanistan, including sesame seeds, raisins, mung beans and various oil seeds.

Referring to imports through Dougharoun border, he said that 10,500 tons of raisins, sesame, rice and oilseeds have entered the Dougharon border from Afghanistan.

Iran is one of Afghanistan’s largest trading partners.

About two months ago, the economic advisor of the Iranian President’s special representative for Afghanistan affairs announced a 4 percent increase in non-oil exports to Afghanistan.
