Officials: Hundreds of IS Fighters have come from Iraq and Syria to Zabul and Ghazni provinces

Hundreds of the so-called Islamic State (IS) fighters have come to Zabul and Ghazni provinces, provincial council official said.


Esmatullah Chamradwal and Khaliq Dad Akbari have said in an interview with Kabul News TV, “Pakistan-backed IS fighters, previously fighting in Iraq and Syria, are now fighting in Naw Bahar, Dai Chopan and Mezan districts of Zabul province and in Gailan and Nawa districts of Ghazni province”.


Zabul Province Provincial Council Member, Fawzia Kakar has said that these fighters are in full preparation for launching the spring offensives, so the government should immediately take action against them.
Ministry of Defense (MoD) Officials confirms small terroristic activities of these groups there, but underlines that sweeping operation are ongoing against them.
In the past, Members of Ghazni’s Provincial Council and other residents have warned the government to launch military operations against IS and Taliban in their province or it will face the fate of Kundoz province.
