Gunmen attacked a female member of Afghan negotiating team on the outskirts of capital Kabul on Friday evening, an official said.
Fawzia Koofi, a women’s rights campaigner and a former member of the parliament, was lightly injured in the assault which happened on Parwan-Kabul highway in Qarabagh district, said Masoom Stanekzai, head of the negotiating team.
He said that Koofi’s health was in good condition.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
Stanekzai said that security institutions would investigate the incident.
The attack comes as the Afghan government and the Taliban are on the verge of peace talks which are expected to begin in Qatari capital Doha, after the release of last batch of prisoners the group is demanding.
On Friday, the Afghan government said that it had released 80 of those 400 prisoners.
