President Ashraf Ghani’s reservations about a meeting between Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Taliban have been addressed, the Pakistani foreign minister says.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi told journalists in Multan on Sunday the Taliban were also willing for negotiations, as Pakistan was playing the role of a mediator for peace in Afghanistan.
During his recent visit to the United States, Prime Minister Khan exposed the enemies of peace. Earlier, Pakis¬tan was blamed for the situation in Afghanistan, he said.
Khan had long been advocating for that dialogue, which he believes is the best way of finding a peaceful solution to the Afghan conflict, Qureshi added.
The entire world, including the US, Europe, Russia and China, had endorsed Khan’s position on Afghanistan, Qureshi claimed.
Some forces did not want to see peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan, he alleged, without naming anyone. However, he promised the anti-peace forces would be exposed.
