Three Afghan women on Sunday ended their hunger strike they began three days ago to protest parliamentary election results.

The women, who launched sit-in two months ago near the presidential palace, claim that widespread fraud in elections bodies deprived them of their seats in Wolesi Jirga, the Lower House of Parliament,  as say they were declared winner in the preliminary results from election but not in the final.

They demand holding a special trial or a committee to investigate their claims.

The women were set to send a letter to the office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, however, it was postponed as National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib Saturday night visited them in their sit-in and promised that their demands would be considered.

Also on Sunday, presidential advisers visited the protesters to hear their demands.

The repeatedly delayed parliamentary vote in October last year was marred by widespread allegations of fraud, vote rigging, inaccurate voter lists and technical problems with biometric verification equipment.
