Covid-19: 361 test positive in past 24 hours in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday said 361 new positive cases of coronavirus have been registered in the country over the past 24 hours. 117 of them surfaced in capital Kabul.

MoPH spokesman Dr. Wahidullah Mayar told Pajhwok Afghan News that from 995 suspected cases 361 tested positive taking Afghanistan’s tally to 4,402.

He said 120 Afghans had died and 558 recovered from this pandemic so far. The spokesman called for the people to observe precautions.

Of the newly recorded cases, 117 were found in Kabul, 59 in Herat, 31 in Balkh, 26 in Kandahar, 21 in Baghlan, 18 in Farah, 12 in Laghman, 11 each in Samangan and Maidan Wardak.

Mayar said nine each infections had been recorded in Kunduz and Panjsher, eight each in Nangarhar and Parwan, seven in Kunar, five in Helmand, four each in Ghazni and Badakhshan, three each in Jawzjan and Sar-i-Pul, two in Paktika and one each in Zabul and Paktia provinces.

Figures from MoPH show the total 1,096 cases have been reported in Kabul, 894 in Herat, 507 in Kandahar, 355 in Balkh, 199 in Paktia, 158 in Nangarhar, 100 in Laghman, 94 in Takhar.

At least 91 cases have surfaced in Ghazni, 81 in Baghlan, 70 each in Logar and Samangan, 68 in Jawzjan, 63 in Panjsher, 53 each in Nimroz and Kunduz, 52 in Maidan Wardak, 50 in Kunar, 37 in Farah, 34 in Badghis, 32 in Helmand, 31 each in Faryab and Ghor.

In addition, 30 cases have found in Paktika, 29 in Bamyan, 25 in Parwan, 22 in Zabul, 20 in Sar-i-Pul, 19 in Kapisa, 12 in Badakhshan, 10 each in Daikundi and Khost, four in Uruzgan and two in Nuristan provinces
