Coronavirus Cases in Afghanistan Exceed 25,000

The Ministry of Public Health on Monday reported 761 new positive cases of the coronavirus out of 1,551 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total accumulated cases to 25,527.

The ministry also reported seven new deaths from COVID-19 and 365 recovered cases in the last 24 hours.

According to data by Public Health Ministry, Kabul once again was on top of the list with 237 cases followed by Logar (103), Kunduz (113), Takhar (93), Kandahar (25), Nangarhar (22), Paktia (15), Baghlan (14), Bamiyan (15), Parwan (37), Wardak (30), Kunar (8), Panjshir (16), Badakhshan (11), Daikundi (10), Nuristan (4), and Uruzgan (12).

The deaths were reported in Uruzgan (5) and Kabul (2). The total COVID-19 deaths in the country are 478 and the total recovered cases stand at 5,090.

So far, 57,532 samples have been tested and there are 19,959 active cases, according to the data by the Ministry of Public Health.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 433,648 and the number of global coronavirus cases is 7,915,335, according to Johns Hopkins University.
