Afghanistan Begins World Cup Journey with Big Win

The Afghanistan national cricket team started its T20 World Cup campaign with a decisive victory over Uganda.

Afghanistan set a target of 184 runs in 20 overs, losing 5 wickets. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran were the stars of the first innings, scoring 76 and 70 runs respectively.

In the second innings, Afghan bowlers dominated, restricting Uganda to 85 all out in 16 overs. Fazalhaq Farooqi was outstanding, taking five wickets while conceding only 19 runs in his four-over spell.

The opening pair of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran set a record for Afghanistan with their 154-run partnership, marking the highest first-wicket partnership for Afghanistan in a T20 World Cup. This partnership also ranks as the fourth highest in T20 World Cup history.
