The High Peace Council (HPC) on Monday said Afghan refugees would be given the opportunity to attend the upcoming Consultative Loya Jirga on peace.
Sayed Ihsanullah Tahiri, HPC spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that President Ashraf Ghani’s special envoy and High Peace Council (HPC) secretariat head Mohammad Umar Daudzai had met with a number of Afghan refugees’ representatives in Iran during his recent trip to the neighboring country.
He added the Afghan ambassador in Iran and the refugees’ representatives also took part in the meeting with Daudzai.
Tahiri further said Omar Daudzai had shared details with the Afghan refugees regarding the ongoing peace efforts and the upcoming Consultative Loya Jirga on peace.
The Afghan refugees said they would support the Afghan-owned peace process, according to Tahiri, who quoted Daudzai as announcing that Afghan refugees based in Iran and others countries would be given an opportunity to take part in the upcoming Consultative Loya Jirga on peace.
He said the Afghan refugees could play an important and crucial role in various sectors of their country.
