Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday assured that the advisory board being formed as part of peace efforts is not going to act as a parallel body to High Peace Council.

Ghani has been holding meetings to discuss the advisory board for peace process and formation of negotiating team with the Taliban.

Meeting with High Peace Council leadership and members, the president reiterated that the advisory board will not be a parallel body to HPC, but rather an “inclusive board which will advise the government and HPC on issues of national significance including peace.”

In a separate meeting that involved Uzbek and Turkmen elders, Ghani said the regional and international conditions are ready for peace, adding the process should be led expediently.
