The current President of the United States, Donald Trump, who has returned to the White House for a second term, repeatedly makes a baseless and shameful claim. He alleges that the Bagram Air Base is now under Chinese control—an accusation that is not only unfounded but has no connection to reality.

The truth is that when the U.S. military withdrew from Afghanistan in August 2021, the entire country came under the control of the Afghan caretaker government. Bagram Air Base, which was once occupied by the Americans, is now fully under Afghan control, and no foreign forces are present there.

President Trump, who has often shaped global politics through baseless accusations, is now trying to use Afghanistan as a justification for his administration’s policies. However, the reality is that the U.S. occupation of Afghanistan was a massive failure. The United States not only suffered trillions of dollars in financial losses but also lost thousands of American soldiers.

Now that Trump is back in office, he is attempting to spread false information about Afghanistan to shift the blame onto the decisions made by his political opponents in the past. However, global intelligence agencies, including those of the U.S. government, are well aware that there are no Chinese, Russian, or any other foreign military forces present in Afghanistan.

The President of the United States should accept the truth instead of making baseless accusations. The fact that Afghanistan is no longer under U.S. occupation should be seen as an opportunity to open a new chapter, not as a tool for political propaganda.

Afghans, who have regained control of their country, now seek to move towards peace, economic growth, and development. Such baseless propaganda not only harms Afghanistan but also damages America’s global credibility. President Trump must understand that there is no possibility of returning to Afghanistan and that international politics cannot be driven by lies.

Distorting facts and spreading misinformation may seem beneficial for short-term political goals, but the outcome is always the opposite. The United States should establish relations with Afghanistan based on mutual respect rather than continuing a policy built on false accusations. The era when public perception could be easily manipulated through the media is over—people now think critically about the truth. Afghanistan is on the path to independence, stability, and progress, and no amount of propaganda can change this reality.
