414,000 Tons Shipped Through Country’s Railways Last Month

The Ministry of Transport has reported that 414,883 metric tons of goods were transported via Afghanistan’s railway network between April 21 and May 21.

According to ministry data, the Hairatan railway line handled 328,970 metric tons, while the Aqina and Torghondi lines transported 21,959 metric tons and 55,536 metric tons, respectively. Additionally, the Khaf-Herat railway facilitated the import of 8,418 metric tons of petroleum and other goods, bringing total imports to 378,156 metric tons.

During the same period, 36,727 metric tons of commercial goods—mainly dried fruits, citrus products, and pomegranate juice—were exported or transited via the railway network.

The Ministry of Transport stated that efforts are ongoing to enhance transportation efficiency and provide better facilities for traders.

Notably, in the previous month (March 21–April 20), 408,876 metric tons of goods were transported via Afghanistan’s railways, including 1,698 metric tons of exported and transited goods.
