The Ministry of Defense has reacted to Pakistan’s airstrike, stating that this attack will not go unanswered. In an official statement, the Ministry condemned the bombing by Pakistani jet aircraft on Barmal district of Paktika province, calling it a violation of international norms.

The statement reads: “The Islamic Emirate will not leave this attack unanswered. We consider defending our territory our legitimate right.” According to the Ministry, the attack targeted civilians, including children, many of whom were refugees. The Ministry labeled this act as brutal and against humanity.

Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, also commented on the incident. Khalilzad said, “It appears that Pakistani jet aircraft bombed Barmal district of Paktika province last night (Tuesday).” He warned both sides about escalating tensions and emphasized the need to prevent the use of territory by individuals and groups against each other’s security.

The incident has reportedly caused civilian casualties, as confirmed by local residents and eyewitnesses. Some sources mentioned that the airstrike occurred at night and specifically targeted areas where displaced refugees were residing. Accurate casualty figures have not yet been released, but the number of victims is expected to rise.

It is worth noting that Barmal district in Paktika province lies on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, where skirmishes and attacks between the security forces of both countries occur from time to time. This latest incident has raised concerns among the public, with many calling for urgent action from international bodies and organizations.

The Ministry of Defense has assured that comprehensive measures will be taken to ensure the security of its people and that any aggression from the enemy will be met with a response. Simultaneously, it has called on the international community to increase efforts to prevent such attacks.
