Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov said that Kazakhstani companies seek to supply railway tracks and other products for the railway sector of Afghanistan.
Kazakhstan’s railroad tracks and ties suppliers are to participate in the project as part of the North-South international transport corridor, providing for the construction of one of the first railway sections near Herat Province, according to Kazakh media reports.
“The country seeks to supply materials at the initial stage,” he said on the sidelines of the 6th International Conference ‘Transport and Logistics Market’ and the 1st International Forum on the development of air cargo transport GLOBAL AVIA DAY in Astana.
Kazakhstan’s company Integra already built a railroad between Afghanistan and Iran at the expense of Afghanistan, said the vice minister.
Kazakhstan, as one of Afghanistan’s key regional partners, is striving to play an effective role in the country’s economic development by investing in infrastructure projects such as railways.
This cooperation, within the framework of the North-South International Transport Corridor, creates extensive trade and transit opportunities for both countries.
