The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation on Tuesday received a consignment of Chinese humanitarian aid worth 40 million yuan ($5.5 million).

During the handover ceremony, Acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani expressed appreciation for the aid, and said it was done in special circumstances, as hundreds of thousands of refugees have returned to the country and need help.

According to Haqqani, the world is aware that over the past four decades, the Afghan people have suffered huge hardships in war and migration.

The Chinese aid consignment includes 80 small and large vehicles, tents, blankets and water tanks that will help returning migrants and internally displaced persons.
