Abdul Qasim Sangin, head of a Parwan hospital, said so far 17 residents were killed in a flash flood on Tuesday night in Parwan, and 40 people have been brought to his hospital with injuries.
Parwan local officials said the flooding occurred around 3:00 am local time.
Local officials said that dozens of houses and vehicles were destroyed in Charikar, the provincial capital.
According to local residents, no rescue teams have yet arrived in the area and they call for urgent assistance for the victims.
