Nearly 31,000 COVID-19 Cases: Afghan Health Ministry

The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday reported 351 new positive cases of the coronavirus from 701 samples tested over the last 24 hours.

So far, 70,788 samples have been tested in the government’s testing centers and there are 17,650 active COVID-19 cases in the country, according to data by the Ministry of Public Health.

In the last 24 hours, the ministry also reported 34 new deaths from COVID-19 and 2,004 recoveries. With this, the number of total cases is now 30,967, the total reported deaths are 737, and total recoveries are 12,588.

The highest count was reported in Kabul with 240, followed by Herat (24 cases), Kandahar (1), Nangarhar (5), Takhar (12), Baghlan (11), Kunduz (17), Parwan (2), Wardak (3), Badakhshan (15), Daikundi (10), Kapisa (7), Panjshir (1) and Zabul (5).

Also, the ministry reported 17 COVID-19 deaths in Badghis, 8 in Kabul, 1 in Kandahar, 2 in Takhar, 1 in Logar, 3 in Wardak and 2 in Kapisa.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 499,024 and the number of global coronavirus cases is 9,994,206, according to Johns Hopkins University.
