The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has reaffirming its commitment to promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
At a meeting in Antalya, Turkey, the ECO Council of Ministers voiced its support for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
The participants also renewed their support for implementation of the ECO Advocacy Program for Afghanistan (EAPA);
Member states were encouraged to make adequate contributions to the ECO Fund for Afghanistan and support efforts for promoting stability, reconstruction, sustainable development and economic growth in the war-hit country.
The Antalya Communiqué called on the member states to actively participate in the ECO Donors Conference on Afghanistan.
The meeting also supported Afghanistan-Iran rail and road corridors, Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan project, CASA-1000, TAPI corridor, a railway corridor involving China, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan.
The ECO ministers also lent their weight to the Lapis-Lazuli Trade and Transit Corridor, China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway corridor and development of the Chabahar Port.
The ministers backed the Kunar dam project, Peshawar-Kabul express highway, Khost-Miran Shah railway line, the Chaman-Spin Boldak railroad, Mazar-i-Sharif-Herat and Khaff-Herat railway lines.
