The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday released new statistics on the votes registered at the commission’s central database.
The commission said that the Dermalog company has identified 1,843,107 valid votes out of the 1,929,333 votes already transferred to the commission’s central database.
“We had 1,929,333 biometric votes from which 1,843,107 votes are valid votes,” said Commissioner Aurangzeb, speaking at an Independent Election Commission press conference on Saturday.
According to Aurangzeb more than 86,000 votes were invalidated by the Dermalog company.
But Abdullah Abdullah’s electoral team did not accept the new statistics released by Dermalog and added that more than 137,000 originally quarantined votes should not be included in the process.
“There will be consequences for those who treat the people’s votes carelessly and make such a decision with no regard for the sensitivity of the situation” said Muhammad Yunus Nawandish, an observer of Abdullah’s team.
Meanwhile, Ashraf Ghani’s electoral team says more explanation should be provided about the new statistics released by Dermalog company.
“The same report that was sent to them (IEC) by Dermalog – 86 thousand and few hundred votes – must be spoken about, meaning that the ballots have not yet been announced invalid. because of this, the information is not complete, said Daoud Sultanzoy, observer of Ghani’s team.
On the other hand, the IEC says that all the vote re-counting supplies will be sent to provinces in the coming two days to the provinces.
